Genuine connections with the communities you visit
Sponsor a Project
Uplift Travel stands out because it prioritizes empowerment and side-by-side collaboration, rather than top-down “aid.” Every project—from cow co-ops and sewing enterprises to elephant orphan care—reflects locally initiated goals, connects people, resources, and opportunities.

Journey Deep. Connect Wide.
Experience the Uplift
We specialize in custom itineraries that connect our visitors as travelers, not tourists, offering access to local friends, experts and projects that give back to local communities and conservation needs.
There are group trips we guide as well as crafted itineraries for you, your family and friends. We offer specialty trips to private lodges run by local wildlife trusts, with exclusive access to elephants and their devoted keepers. Travel with us and you will experience the fruits of our investment and partnerships in many ways.
These include:
Dinner, Singing and Fireside Chats
When you’re in the Mara, you’re family. As we travel through local villages and park lands, we often eat beside the fire as a community or join families we’ve befriended for tea as the cows and family goats wander past. Of course, after (and sometimes during), there are plenty of opportunities to join in and learn local dance and song. If you’re very lucky, you may even get your own local name!
A Day at School
Follow along as we join in the school day! For elementary age kids it will be songs, some lessons and plenty of playground play. And with older kids, we learn alongside them as they pursue a local career or higher education, perhaps (if desired) be a mentor or friend. Smiles on every face show they truly enjoy the opportunity to learn, and we love to engage with them as they do.
Shop and Support Local
Share in the joys and pains of owning a small business with lodge keepers, jewelry makers, rangers and more — often using their income to support others. Try your hand at stringing beads, milking cows or spotting wildlife and perhaps find yourself shopping for supplies at a traditional market alongside the women’s cooperative or other small business owners.
Enjoy Local Wildlife
From a safe distance, often in jeeps and always with a guide, get up close and personal with unique African wildlife. You might spend time at an elephant sanctuary, making friends and receiving pats from some of the elders as you play with babies. Back at camp, enjoy bird and small primate watching. Or meet the goats whose milk sustains orphaned elephants and see firsthand the economic and nutritional magic being created.
Meet the Rangers
Learn from those on the front lines of wildlife conservation, listening to guides share their real-lived experience in and around park lands. Join rangers on a walking safari, looking out for wildlife or while feeding special cases such as the endangered rhinos. Meet the all-female ranger team who are filling non-traditional roles and see the empowerment for all women and girls.
