What's in store:
Your adventure begins in Nairobi before flying north to the stunning Sarara Treehouses where we'll spend one of our four days at a private Sarara fly-in camp, sharing tales around a bonfire under the stars and visiting the community-run Reteti elephant sanctuary and the "milk mamas" whose lives have been transformed by a partnership that allows them to sell milk from their goats to nourish the orphaned elephants.
You’ll then continue to the elegant Karisia Tumeran Camp, known for its rare black leopards, pioneering conservation work and successful projects that lift up Samburu women. This unforgettable journey is operated in partnership with Aerocruise Safaris and leopard safari led by National Geographic Explorer Ambrose Komiki Letoluai who also partners with the San Diego Zoo to develop community empowerment projects like Chui Mamas (which we will visit) and monitor rare black leopards.
Karen Blixen Coffee Garden and Cottages

Your journey begins in Nairobi on the historic grounds of Karen Blixen, author of Out of Africa. During your stay you’ll explore some of Nairobi’s most beloved wildlife experiences including the Giraffe Centre, the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust elephant nursery, and Nairobi National Park, where lions roam against the backdrop of the city skyline.
From here, you’ll board a scenic flight north into Kenya’s wild and beautiful northern frontier.
Sarara Treehouses

Elephants roam beneath your elevated tented suites as they gather at the watering hole below the expansive guest area. The property also features a stunning infinity pool overlooking the surrounding wilderness.
Your stay includes a visit to the community-run Reteti Elephant Sanctuary, a remarkable conservation initiative funded in partnership with Sarara, as well as the option to experience the landscape on a horseback safari.
Sarara Treehouses sit within Namunyak Conservancy, an extraordinary wildlife sanctuary that is home to Kenya’s second-largest population of elephants, more than 480 reticulated giraffes, the critically endangered Grévy’s zebra, and many other species — including the unique long-necked gerenuk.

Karisia Tumaren Camp
The focus at this luxury lodge set amid the rugged Samburu plains is on intimate wildlife encounters and conservation awareness. Here, guests who often join their award-winning walking safaris by foot or camel can observe rare and endemic species, including Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, and wild dogs, while learning about anti-poaching efforts and sustainable land stewardship championed by local communities.

This portion of the trip includes guided walking safaris and game drives through the region. A highlight is the search for the black leopard, one of the rarest and most fascinating wildlife sightings in Kenya, with a leading expert on this big cat. At Loisaba Conservancy, located in Laikipia County, this elusive cat has gained global attention after a melanistic leopard was documented in the area. The animal’s dark coat is caused by Melanism, a genetic trait that produces excess dark pigmentation, although the leopard’s rosette patterns can still be seen in good light.
Sightings are never guaranteed, but the conservancy’s dedicated trackers and guides monitor wildlife closely, increasing the possibility of encountering this mysterious and beautiful predator.
We also visit a community school, a traditional manyatta (home) and visit and support The Chui Mamas Centre, located near Loisaba Conservancy in Laikipia County. This community hub empowers local women through skills training, entrepreneurship, and conservation initiatives. The centre was created by a women-led group focused on improving livelihoods while promoting coexistence with wildlife, particularly leopards (“Chui” in Swahili).
Suguta Valley Helicopter Safari (optional experience)

For those seeking an additional adventure, guests may choose an optional helicopter safari over the spectacular Suguta Valley.
This breathtaking landscape features ancient volcanoes, dramatic desert terrain, and hidden natural springs—one of Kenya’s most remote and untouched ecosystems.
